PALESTINE: Israeli PHR Says; Israel Bans Extremely Urgent Cases to Enter Israel
for Treatment

PHR-Israel said, in a press release, Israel intended to prevent the Palestinian patients of the Gaza Strip from entering and moving into Israel, to reach West Bank or east Jerusalem to receive the treatment, also borders with Egypt are completely closed. The group also asserted that cancer patients in Gaza, who regularly are being treated in Israel, have been denied permits to enter Israel.

Israeli troops shoot dead Palestinian teen
Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian teenager near the northern West Bank city of Nablus on Friday, witnesses and Palestinian medical sources said. Udai Tantawi, 13, died when an Israeli army patrol opened fire on a group of Palestinians in the Askar refugee camp, the sources said.

Israeli military sources reported, on Friday, that the Israeli army arrested 17 Palestinian residents in the West Bank. Army claims that the arrested residents are members of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Fateh.

Arab MK says review of riots report is 'cover up'
The reexamination, he said, was an attempt to "cover up the Or Commission findings," which found cause for further investigations of the behavior of some of the police officers involved in the riots. Lebanese army tightens grip on pro-Syrian Palestinian militia
Army units erected checkpoints and beefed up its presence around the positions of Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) in al-Naemeh, just south of Beirut, and the Bekaa Valley, the sources said. Abbas' Fatah party wins 54% of votes in West Bank elections
The Fatah party of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will now be in control of 61 councils out of 104, with Hamas running 28. Other parties and independents won in 15 councils, Jamal Shubeikeh, head of the PA local elections commission said. Shubeikeh put the voter turnout at 81 percent.

Arrests make `unpleasant surprises' for Hamas

Palestinian elections marred as Israel kills three more activists
The army said it had arrested more than 420 "wanted Palestinians" during the past week in nearly 100 raids on West Bank towns, including Hebron, Nablus and Ramallah. Palestinian human rights groups said the detentions appeared, in part, to be a round up of candidates and political activists after Ariel Sharon said he would not accept Hamas running for election unless it disarmed and renounced its intention to destroy Israel.

US military chiefs defend US presence in Iraq
The top US commander in Iraq, George Casey, made the remarks during a Congressional hearing Thursday.
